Goal Accomplished
Over the last few years, I have been on a mad dash. My aim is to achieve the goal of running farther each year. I ran 766.4 kilometres (km) in 2024, so for 2025 the goal was to run 767km. In 2024 I made the decision to run a marathon in 2025 when the tracking was not going so well. So how did I go this year? I did it, I achieved the goal. That brings the yearly running streak to eight years in a row!

Staying the Course
I started the year well as ran the marathon in February. There was a plateau in the running whilst we were on the mini-retirement. I tried to keep the runs going whilst we were traveling. In July I ran a total of 20km. August this increased to 44km as I got running in the Galapagos and Chile. In September only ran 25km. October this increased to 54km.
Unfortunately, I did not get to participate in the run in Northern Patagonia in November. We had to cut short our mini-retirement. We returned home due to a medical crisis. December was challenging as started getting some knee pain towards the end of the month. I still managed to run 115km in the month. I logged the last needed 4km on the final day of the year.

Running Farther Again
I don’t know for how long I will keep at this goal of running farther each year. It would be nice to run 1,000km in the year. If I broke this down I would need to run 83.3km a month or about 20.8km a week. For 2026, I am happy to aim to just run farther than 767km. I need to give the sore knee a break. January will see me surfing more than I run most likely. For now I can celebrate having accomplished the goal this year. Bring on 2026, will run farther than 2025!
