Who We Are
Time Rich FI is a personal blog operated from Australia and available at https://www.timerichfi.com.
This policy explains how personal information is collected, used, and protected, and is written with reference to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Time Rich FI is not currently operated as a registered business and does not generate income, and may therefore sit outside the scope of the Privacy Act, or qualify for the small business exemption should that change. This policy is provided regardless, as a matter of transparency and good practice, and will apply in full if the site later begins generating income, for example, through affiliate links.
Information We Collect
We may collect personal information such as your name, email address, and IP address when you:
- Leave a comment or fill in a contact form.
- Subscribe to updates or newsletters.
- Interact with the site through cookies or analytics tools.
Only information necessary for the functioning of the site or communication with you is collected. We do not sell your personal information.
Comments
When visitors leave comments, the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent, is collected to help detect spam.
An anonymised hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you use that service. After approval, your profile image is publicly visible next to your comment.
Cookies
Cookies help improve your browsing experience. Examples include:
- Saving your name and email when you comment, so you do not need to re-enter them next time.
- Remembering login details and display preferences.
- Supporting analytics tools, as described below.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site functions may not work correctly as a result.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand visitor behaviour (for example, pages visited, country, and time on site). This data is collected in aggregated form and used to improve site content. You can opt out by disabling cookies or installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
Email Updates
If you subscribe to receive posts by email, your name and email address are collected and stored for that purpose. We currently use Jetpack Subscriptions, part of the WordPress.com and Jetpack service, to send these emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you may withdraw consent at any time.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles may include embedded content, such as videos or images. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the external website directly, and may collect data or set cookies according to that site’s own privacy policy.
Affiliate and Advertising Links
Some pages may include affiliate links in future, for example, Amazon Associates. No affiliate links are currently active. If these are added and you make a purchase through one, Time Rich FI may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. See our full Disclosure & Disclaimer for more information.
How Long We Retain Your Data
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be auto-approved. Registered users, if any, can view, edit, or delete their information at any time, except their username. Site administrators can also access this data.
Where Your Data Is Sent and Overseas Disclosure
Some of the services this site relies on may store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including:
- WordPress and its hosting providers.
- Jetpack, for email subscriptions.
- Google Analytics.
- Akismet, for automated spam detection on comments.
- Gravatar, for comment profile images.
Where personal information is disclosed overseas, reasonable steps are taken to ensure it continues to be handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, so far as practicable for a site of this size.
Data Security
Data is stored securely through WordPress and its hosting providers. Reasonable steps are taken to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. In the unlikely event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will take steps consistent with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.
Children’s Privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of eighteen.
Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction if that information is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete.
- Ask for deletion of your data, except where retention is required by law.
To make a request, contact us via the Contact page. We may require verification of your identity before releasing or amending any information, and will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
