Setting Out on An Alpine Adventure
When you set out on a hike for the first time, you never quite know what to expect. In my case, I had never done an Alpine crossing before. Upon our arrival, we kept hoping that the conditions on the mountain would be favourable for us. Fortunately, we had given ourselves a week, so all we needed was one day with suitable conditions. We had packed everything necessary for the day. The guides carefully checked that our gear would be appropriate for the mountain. Additionally, we were fitted with helmets, ice axes, and crampons. I felt both excited and nervous. It was that unique feeling you get when embarking on an adventure for the very first time!

In those special moments when you find yourself completely surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of nature, the warm sun shining brightly overhead. You simply keep moving forward, placing one foot carefully in front of the other.
Embracing the journey
You want to pinch yourself because you wonder, is this for real? Am I actually doing this? This movie is my life. As you venture along, you feel grateful to be sharing this experience with TheHandsomeSurfer. Indeed, this is us making memory dividends; Bill Perkins would be proud—Die with Zero, ha!

We reach a point where the snow has blanketed the trail. We can either slide down the slope or hike around it. From the beginning of this journey, I promised myself I would embrace a spirit of playfulness. Even Type A personalities can learn to relax and have fun.
Reflecting on the Meaning of Play
As a child, I was one of those uncommon kids. Upon arriving home, I would first complete my homework. Then I would polish my shoes for the next school day. Only afterward would I look for something to eat. Finally, it was time to play. Lately, I’ve been reflecting deeply on what it truly means to play. Additionally, after reading Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, I found myself captivated by the concept of play.
Why is my play gauge almost empty? How can I refill it? What does it mean to truly play? Can I set aside specific time to play? I’ve realized that children have so much to teach us about play—they engage fully and without hesitation. I had to reconnect with my inner child to embrace play wholeheartedly.

Letting Go and Enjoying the Moment
This was a moment to slide down the slope and simply be. I likely made the loudest noises and laughed uncontrollably when I reached the bottom. I had truly succeeded in playing. There was no need to worry about falling, hurting myself, or accidentally drifting into a rock.
Who truly thinks about that? Doctors frequently spot risks everywhere, especially because they treat patients injured during ordinary activities. But sometimes, you need to stop overthinking and simply enjoy the moment. Life is a journey—embrace those moments of joy and playfulness.
Forget about how much the guided alpine hike cost. Besides, we saved for the trip, and I have made investments this month. I can afford to play.
