Designing Life Around Time and Freedom
Thanks for visiting Time Rich Financial Independence by The Frugal Doctor. I am a general practitioner (GP) in Australia (primary care physician). Early 40s, married to The Handsome Surfer. We are on a journey to Financial Independence FI . For me, FI isn’t just about retiring early — it’s about designing a life that values time, health, and freedom.

Living Life on My Own Terms
As a GP I talk to many people about their life struggles. They open up about mental health, relationships, money struggles and health problems. We all know what happened in 2020: The COVID-19 pandemic. As a frontline health worker the years were challenging. Post pandemic I am even more determined to live life on my own terms.

Time is the best medicine
Time is a concept that I encounter in my medical career. Life and death discussions make you value time. In addition time pressures, consults, keeping up to date on medical knowledge and administration demand of my time. Work-life balance is crucial. Making time for self care, and relationships is very important. As a result I have had to figure out ways to be Time Rich and make time the best medicine.
Build Passive Income and Design Life
Work is more fun when you don’t have to do it for the money. That’s what drives me: building passive income and designing a life where I choose how to spend my days. Sometimes that means running with nothing but my own thoughts. It may involve learning Spanish or guitar. Surf lessons with The Handsome Surfer. Other times, we are scuba diving, traveling, or simply slowing down and enjoying simple life pleasures. I have always written poems or reflections for most of my life. Writing about love, medicine, and life. When I had my quarter life crisis one of the things I wrote on what I want to do in life was write a book and travel among other things. This blog is part of that journey. The images on this blog are from our adventures.

I hope that my sharing my journey on living life on my own terms you will be inspired to live your life on your own terms. Thanks for reading. Feel free to comment on the blog posts and contact me. I am revamping the blog currently as we enjoy our mini-retirement so keep coming back and browsing. I also hope to create a free life script/free newsletter let me know your thoughts or any suggestion you have?
