Turning point

It was 2016 when my time was not my own, prior to making any plans I had to check my roster. Sorry I am working all weekend, sorry I am on night shifts for next 7 days, sorry I have to see if I can organise a shift swap? At that time I had been thinking of becoming an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, it dawned on me that I did not love my hospital job enough to make the life sacrifices. It was time to ”retire”, move to a quaint seaside town and become a general practitioner ultimately have some work life balance. I would say to my friends I want to retire at 40: work just for the fun of it. Little did I know F.I.R.E (Financial Independence Retire Early) was an actual concept. Now it’s 2021 as I journey towards financial independence as a 37 year old woman.
